Eco-Gift: Offsetting
Offsetting is essentially the act of one individual or group paying another individual or group to execute a plan which reduces the world's greenhouse gas emissions. A simple example is for a person who drives regularily to pay an offsetter organization a certain amount of money per year, relative to the amount of CO2 that person emits each year as a result of their driving. The offsetter organization or company uses that money toward CO2 reduction projects. An project may be as simple as planting some trees or as complex as erecting a field of wind driven turbines to generate clean energy.
It is essential for one to research the offetter company they select before spending their money. Some companies are more effective and efficient at using their money to generate CO2 neutralization companies.
